The mission of Leadership Redondo is to develop effective community leaders who will strengthen and transform the community.

Leadership Redondo Beach 2009 kicks off its 10th year!

The program facilitates the development of our future community leaders, both residential and business.

It identifies emerging leaders, educates them with vital community aspects, and motivates them toward continued improvement of the Redondo Beach community through their personal commitment to our city.

Participants meet one entire day each month (the second Friday of each month) for 10 months and each meeting has a community-based theme and a goal for personal development.

The day-long sessions will cover the following topics: history, health, public safety, city government, media, technology, economic development, an overnight civic leader tour, and a Los Angeles county tour.

Program goals of Leadership Redondo motivate participants to develop a sense of community trusteeship. Graduates are encouraged to assume leadership roles in the community upon completion of the course. Each class provides an awareness of a segment of the Redondo Beach community - its problems, challenges, and opportunities, and examines the major systems and their interrelationship that contribute to patterns of life in the city.

Community trusteeship, leadership styles, and skills are integral parts of the program. Class sessions provide opportunities for communication among emerging and established leaders. Participants explore the dynamics of leadership and identify and enhance their leadership styles with an emphasis on community perspective.

Applicant’s criteria:

• Express a desire to contribute both time and energy toward serving the community.
• Demonstrate prior volunteer and or leadership involvement in Redondo Beach.
• Demonstrate an interest in and a willingness to understand the Redondo Beach community.
• Demonstrate a desire for professional and personal growth.
