Dear Citizens:

On behalf of the City of Redondo Beach’s Citizen Corp’s Council, we are pleased to present our first Community Publication that targets Emergency Preparedness and tips on hazardous waste prevention.

In January 2006, Mayor Mike Gin announced, at his State of the City address, his initiative to revitalize the City of Redondo Beach's Citizen Corp Council with the primary mission to promote volunteerism through the President’s USA Freedom Corps. Its purpose is to build on existing volunteer programs in Redondo Beach, adding an element of homeland security.

The Redondo Beach Citizen Corp’s Council brings together leaders from many sectors of our community to promote volunteer opportunities that prepare the community for threats of terrorism and other emergencies that could overwhelm local public safety, medical and health resources.

Citizen Corp Council Committee:
• Dan Madrigal; Fire Chief
• Pat Aust; Board of Director, Beach Cities Health District
• Lisa Burke; Vice-President of CERT Alumni
• Brandy Hawkins; Medical reserve Corp’s
• Carol Thompson; Neighborhood Watch
• Eric Moberg, Volunteers in Policing
• Marna Smeltzer; Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce
• Jared Van Sloten; Red Cross/Emergency Preparedness Director
• Charles F. Gillies Jr., Major Corps Officer/Salvation Army
• Dante Jackson, District Administrator/Redondo Beach School District
• Dan Trejo, Asst. District Mgr. California Water District
• Dr. Issac Jakubowicz; Medical Director, LA County Health Department
• Cory Fleisher, Chairman; Public Safety Commission
• Jason Schroeder, Vice-Chairman; Public Safety Commission

We hope that the information provided in our pamphlet will assist you with further information on emergency preparedness measures and toxic waste management. If you have additional questions, please contact the Redondo Beach Fire Administration for further assistance at 310-318-0663.

Sincerely,

Daniel P. Madrigal
Fire Chief
